Slot-In Bookcases German designer Florian Gross composed an award-winning book case design. Slot-In can be assembled in any way that fits your spacial needs, which is cool but I’d probably try to model the above picture. Restoration Hardware’s new desk design is inspired by WWII fighter planes. The desk is created out of aluminum sheets screwed to a wooden frame. This makes for a cool work space.
The information learned from the Bauhaus passed down and became what we now know as the Bible. David Barringer from the Design Observer muses about the Bauhaus and its influences on today’s culture. Would it survive if created today? He compares it to another giant, IKEA. IKEA, with its cheap furniture and design missteps, can be considered the antithesis to everything the Bauhaus stood for. Or maybe IKEA is just implementing a distilled Bauhaus to the masses, changing Bauhaus ideals for what we deem is necessary to survive in our modern market.
