THE DARK KNIGHT RISES TEASER POSTER
Although the creative work and concept reminds us of INCEPTION, it is still refreshing to see the abstract bat after so much hype and buzz surrounding the new film and third batman installment by Christopher Nolan.

REMAINING TRUE TO THE BRAND
Many times a repackaging or rather redesign, means totally starting from scratch or a good opportunity to rebrand and create a whole new identity. Woodpecker Cider, is an alcohol based cider that takes some getting used to, but if you are into these cider beverages with a kick, this is by far is the best. Smith and Milton the design team, set out on a mission to make this brand POP again, or rather make this woodpecker find its way home.
A leader in the category, Woodpecker cider began to experience some low shares in the market, and after a careful review of the brand’s history, there was much fluff and stuff that needed to be tossed out, and a new focus needed to be put on the true essence of the brand. Yes, you guessed it… The focus was brought back to the hero of the brand, and that is the Woodpecker. Preserving it’s rich history, and making sure the brand remains true to what everyone knows it for on a visual level, Smith and Milton hired illustrator Andrew Davidson. The result is a BEAUTIFUL wood cut illustration of a Woodpecker. The colors went from a white clean look, to a fire red color palette.
The end result is quite beautiful, and it remains true to the history of this delicious and unique brand of alcohol based beverage.

NO APOLOGIES NECESSARY!
Many of you know how obsessed we have been over the MOUSTACHE GRAFFITI BANDIT in NYC. If you live in NYC, or work in NYC or just happen to go sight seeing once in a blue, or looking for drugs, whatever your deal is… YOU HAVE SEEN the many cursive style words MOUSTACHE resembling a moustache on many ads and posters throughout the subways and streets of New York. It was very refreshing and it felt like we were witnessing the start to something great and expansive, similar to Banksy or Shepard Fairey. Maybe that’s pushing it a bit, but it was so great to see something creative and not mindless scribble on the many annoying ads throughout NYC.
Well the bandit was finally unmasked, and caught last tuesday by NYPD. It seems the bandit, is a 26 year old Employee of Gray Line Tours originally from Virginia. The 6’4” bandit is Joseph Waldo, and he was released without bail and he vowed he would never tag an ad / poster ever again. Unfortunately for him, he broke one cardinal rule of the graffiti / street art world —- DON’T BRAG ABOUT YOUR ILLEGAL ACTIVITY. NY takes the defacing of any property very serious… It is estimated that Waldo has cost the city about $1500 in damages. On top of that NYC charges about $150 per fine, for every sticker or tag you are caught with, and you are subject to be arrested.
Now being arrested, being chased by the cops, or being stopped with a warning is natural in this world. SO it should not be a means for stopping what was a great subliminal campaign throughout NYC. But the fact Waldo bragged about it in his site and elsewhere, it put a BIG RED TARGET on his head. This is what led police to associate him with all his misdeeds and led to his arrest on the L train. The mask has been taken off, and now that it has been revealed who this bandit is, will the effect still be the same? Once the mystery is gone, do we care? That’s the real question, and we dont know the answer to it…
