A logo doesn’t need to say what a company does | Logo Design Love The Tiger Woods logo isn’t a golf club. The Virgin Atlantic logo isn’t an airplane. The Xerox logo isn’t a photocopier. Computer logos don’t need to show computers, dentist logos don’t need to show teeth, and furniture store logos don’t need to show furniture. Just because it’s relevant, doesn’t mean you can’t do better using a design that doesn’t depict the product or service your client provides.

Lance Wyman | Logo Design Love “The logo for the Sandra Berier Gallery of Photography suggests image framing and the letters ‘S’ and ‘B’.” LogoDesignLove has a quick profile detailing Lance Wyman and his work. He is held in high regard by many, and especially for us at FA since he was born in Newark, NJ. Although his body of work is expansive and spans decades, one of his best remembered logos was for the Mexico Olympic program.
You have the skills, you have the technology… (to quote a famous TV show from the 70’s), but knowing how to sell them (and you) requires another kind of aptitude altogether. The commercial reality for designers is that having talent isn’t always a guarantee of attaining success or making a living come to that. Man cannot live on artistic brilliance alone.
